I'm worried about the sheep!!

I live near Wales and see sheep on a regular basis. This past 6 months we have had really bad weather. Much worse than previous years. It's snowed 3 times, rains alot and its bloody freezing. So, I'm worried about the sheep! They always look sad and cold. Their ankles must be like ice cubes. I know they have wooly jumpers, but i have a wooly jumper too and when it gets wet, its freezing and i have to take it off. The sheep can't do that! i would knit them some spares if i thought it would help but that kinda defeats the object and i don't think a pac-a-mac would do the job. Will the sheep be ok? Is it normal that I'm worried?

Y'kno, sheep's wool is covered in an oily substance that keeps them insulated and water-proof. That + the fact that they're ruminants, fermenting the grasses they eat, generating a lot of body heat. Also, the animals are someone's source of income. Would you, as a farmer, let them die if you knew they wouldnt survive the cold?

They're evolved to live outside in the kind of weather we get in this country. It's sweet that you're worried, but they'll honestly be fine.

They're fine, the sheep's wool coat is water proof and acts as an insulator against the cold :-)

i suppose its just because the weather has been a lot worse lately than it usually is so i wondered if they would be able to cope with the sudden huge drop in temperature.

I also worry about all the animals that have to live outside in extremely cold weather. Not just sheep, but cows, horses, foxes etc.
