I need to cough when i clean my ears with cotton buds?

Today when I was cleaning my ears I coughed and that's the first that has happened. Is this normal? Seriously I can't clean my ears properly because of this.

    I wash my ears out with wax softener and soapy water. I use a bulb you can buy in CVS.

    I think it's the brain's breakneck reaction, thinking it's an obstruction in the ear. Its normal!

    Having said that you might be going too deep with the q-tips. Theres safer methods to removing ear wax!
