I need to wet my hands when something is too soft. normal?

When I touch something made of extra-soft microfiber, I cringe, my hands suddenly feel really dry and I feel the need to wet them. Only if it touches my palms though.

I also get this urge if I drink from a cold water fountain, bite into something cold, or even touch towels that are dry and fluffy. Is this normal?

I have exactly the oposite condition, but I know what you mean. I need to wet my hands after touching carpets or other stuff that are rough.

Google "Textophobia" ...it's the name of our problem :D

If I touch sandpaper or other rough, grainy objects I cringe.

Yeah, cotton balls do it too, sometimes.

For the first part, I could imagine that those microfibres absorb the slight sweat from the palms and finger tips and therefore you'd feel the need to top up the natural moisture. For the second part - sorry haven't got a clue :)

I don't think that is the problem because it's an immediate reaction. Good thought, though!
