I never stop anyone from leaving

Someone leaving a common group of friends
My favorite coworker leaving work
Friend drifting away to a new phase of life
Family member not wanting to do anything with me anymore, or for me
Girlfriend wanting to move on
Someone wanting to leave from a party

Is it normal I never stop any of them from leaving? Especially if it's solely for me. I might feel sad but I can always understand someone's reasons. And I feel if someone wants to go I wouldnt want to beg them to stay, because staying for the sake of staying holds no value to me.

I have never seen any one else like this. Normally people plead others to stay in all kinds of scenarios. Is this normal?

  • As I’ve gotten older I can relate to this a lot. Friends come and go they leave memories and lessons learned. I don’t expect people to stay in my life for long people drift all the time. I do still try on my end to keep conversations going but when someone stops trying I do too. No point in trying to get someone to stay if they’re better off leaving they figure out what they want for themselves. If you aren’t part of it you can’t force it.
