I pick my beard (especially the straggled hairs) and pull them out?

I will sometimes, well, all the time it seems, pick at and play with individual hairs in my beard. It's not a long beard, the hairs are probably half an inch long at the max, maybe a little shorter. I don't know why I do it. Perhaps it gives me something to do, I don't know. I generally go for any hair that comes out a little straggled, and sometimes I'll even pull the actual hair out, and play with the follicle. I love doing this. Is it normal?

    You should do something more productive and shave your beard. Then, like wool, use it as fuel for a knitted creation.

    For me it is a bad habit to pull at my beard when becomes roughly an inch long. I end up pulling so many hairs out that I have to shave and thus start the beard-growing anew.
