I ride a bike at nights, i hate it when...

I recently got a new job, but unfortunately I don't get off until 10:30 pm which isn't so bad compared to previous jobs I'd worked in. My most reliable transportation is my bicycle. I have been riding a bike for 4 years, no accidents yet (knock on wood).

Whenever I ride late, I make sure to bring along my helmet and bicycle light. My bicycle light is my savior and is in excellent quality. I can arrange the lights on how bright I want them, it flashes very rapidly, and it doesn't need to be recharged that much (gone 4 days without charging it and it still continues to light).

My problem is when I'm on my way home from a long day of work, I get a lot of nasty comments from drivers on how bright my lights are. I don't ride with a light reflecting vest, but my bike has the reflectors on the frame and peddles, and I think my bike light is proper enough for me and other drivers to know I am on the road too. I get mocked on how bright my lights are. I ride my bike on the most busiest streets then on to the back streets on my way home. I had drivers who would purposely put on their high beams on as I ride the opposite direction because my flashing lights were to much of a eye sore. I have consideration for other drivers so I would often face my bike light downward so that the lights can reflect the paint and the road.

Please people, whenever you drive and see other cyclists riding their bike dark at night with nothing but their bicycle light to guide them home safely, don't yell out your car window and degrade them. Think about how much crap we got to put up with terrible drivers.

Take the back roads home for the entire trip. Vary your route so that muggers cannot target you. Bikes are a good money saver.

Correct. I recently got a new job with better pay. It took me a year to accumulate $1,000 just scraping off of minimum wage. Where I'm from it isn't cheap. I live in California by the way.

That $1000 can have a high payoff. Use it for a check account with a debit card, and internet bill pay to avoid fees. It is also worth getting a large quick release wire bike basket or a bike back rack that you can strap an old carry-on suitcase with bungee cords.

Job and computer training is important for better pay. You probably can find state sponsored tuition reimbursement programs for low wage earners.

Stay focused on return-on-investment and your life will get better. The only way is up.

Sounds like you are telling this frisky little peon that money is a game. Well ........... you're right.

When he is better off, he can open an on-line brokerage account with Fidelity.com, connect the account to his bank, and buy S&P500 index ETFs each month like SPY. Nice tax break for the middle class.

I agree. I don't cycle, but I much despise the intolerance, rudeness and general stupidity of other drivers. It seems like people really have nothing better to do in their empty, worthless lives. Most people probably don't.

I can't believe anyone complains about having a light. It's the bikers with no lights, dressed in black that I wanna slap.

I hope you ride on the sidewalk and not the street. I hate when bikers insist on riding in the street when there is a perfectly good sidewalk next to it.

Unfortunately buddy, it's against the law for me to ride on the sidewalk. I got pulled over by a cop on a bike to inform me that. No joke

That is so dumb. Why is it against the law? What a stupid rule.
