I slept for 14 hours straight
I went to sleep at 4 in the morning and when I woke up it was already time for dinner. I was still a bit sleepy and went to bed at 12am which is 3 hours earlier than my usual bed time. IIN?

If you took sleeping pills or were very tired from work/ some stressful activity its fine. Otherwise if its just a one time deal, no worries, but if its reoccurring, see a doctor...
I've slept for 12 hours before, fell asleep at 5 woke up at 5, 8t was great! Never 14 hours though
Maybe you just needed it..I remember some weekends in college where I'd sleep for hours, get up, eat, then go back to sleep. Before I knew it, Saturday became Sunday night..
If you haven't been getting enough sleep lately, then it's probably normal. I used to sleep around 13-14 hours on weekends when I was in high school because I'd usually get less than 5 on weekdays.
I've read that getting too much sleep is just as bad for your heart as not enough. But, that's only true if you're not getting enough exercise during the time you're awake. If you are getting a good excersise session in at least 3 times a week, then getting 12 hours sleep every night is actually very good for your heart because you're giving yourself even more of a chance to heal up and repair yourself between workouts. Just don't sleep that much if you're living a sedentary lifestyle, because then you're really wasting away your heart. I think that's what those websites that say too much sleep is dangerous are talking about. Just get a good heart conditioning excersise routine in at least several times a week, than have as long of nights sleep as you like.
Who'd give me a minus point for saying that excersise is good for your heart?
Thanks. And thanks for giving me a point back. It's true that sleeping too much is only harmful for your heart if you're living a couch potato lifestyle. If you're active and excersising a lot, too little sleep is worse than too much because you're not giving your body enough time to recuperate.
We went to a friend's place in the mountains and went sleep normally but I slept 14 hours straight. My wife came to see me a couple of times to see if I was still alive. LOL
i really am not sure what you people are talking about? funny to talk about being trashed. in fact, hilarious. i have done the same thing. i was so happy when i slept. if you can be comfortable and up you will be less likely to sleep for a long period of time. relax while you are awake and sleeping will be less enjoyable. it is hard to do, and i have so much trouble with it, but i always enjoy sleeping when i can relax, and love being awake when i am relaxed. i need to read, watch tv, or get on the internet.
Been there, done that. Lots of stress and problems. Get together with mates, got completely trashed and then sleept for 14 hours. I was feeling much better the next day. All that stress and fear was gone.
Just don't make a habit of it. Too much sleep is not good for you, also a sign of depression if you sleep too much.
