I sometimes fall asleep close to 1 pm uintentionally. is it normal?

I always get very sleepy close to 1 pm. Somedays I just fall asleep very quickly during that time which interfere my studies. I guess I'm sleeping less. I generally stay up to 1 to 2 am and get up at 8 am. Also it seems like my sleep med seems to lose effectiveness but don't know if I'm just making up. My parent's say I'm just exeggerating and it doesn't matter how much I sleep. I'm not sure I get sleepy because of sleep duration or boring lecture material.

If your parents are telling you that it doesn't matter how much you sleep then you should probably not take anything they say too seriously.

The human body needs an average of 8 to 9 hours sleep per day for a young adult. You are clearly not getting this at night if you don’t go to bed till 1 or 2 in the morning and then get up at 8. That is why you fall asleep in the afternoon. Try going to bed earlier, say between 11 and midnight.

Tell people it's a power nap. If they don't like that, tell them it's really narcolepsy and ask why are they abusing someone with a disability.
