I still have an iphone 5s

I dunno man, shit's expensive.
I'm sure it won't alter the OP's opinions, but count me in too.
I've always hated Apple's business model, and I detested the smug, manipulative, vindictive, egotistical asshole who ran the company until his blinkered hubris hastened him to an early grave.
Hahaha! No, I just don't care for the operating system. Also, I really like the way Android plays well with others. I can buy a Samsung, an LG, or whatever other brand I so choose, and I can get get a cheap model, or the top of the line phone. I like versatility of Android over the very proprietary nature of the iPhone.
I was still with my Samsung S3 until last week. When it finally decided to die. So I bought an S7 edge.
That's what... Six years, not bad for a modern phone.
I'm not the "I have to have the newest thing" type. I got the S7, cause it's a good phone, it's now reasonably priced and its just as good as the newer ones.
BTW: My dad is extra smug, cause his 2008 Nokia something is still running strong and still holds charge for a few days.
How many stupid Mercedes cars do you own again?
Yeah you are SOOOO non-material aren't you?
The heck do any of my cars have to do with phones?! I never said I was some yogi-zen contortionist type that tests mind and soul on some lone, snowy mountain top, away from material possessions with karate-esque music in the background. Of course I'm materialistic, nowadays very few people aren't.
And for the record, I own three Mercedes and a BMW classic car that's a work in progress, not drivable yet, engine runs fine now tho.
I've had my phone for almost 4 years now. It works just as fine as it did the day I got it, so there's no point in getting a newer one. Not sure about how normal it is though, everyone around me seems to just keep upgrading.
It’s not weird. I kept my iPhone 4s until it died on me, and then got a 5, kept it for a few years, and now I’ve got a 7 which I plan on keeping for a while. I think as long as it’s sfill running good, there’s no point in getting a new one because they’re all basically the same, just a different sized exterior. And honestly I prefer the smaller phones over the newer tablet sized ones.
I still have my iPhone 4S, and I was only given that by my brother when he was upgrading to an iPhone 5S. No way would I spend that much money on a phone.
Still have mine too, I need to replace the broken screen (again) though, but don't really care to since it still works about 80% of the time.
Damn, it still works?
I thought Apple routinely issued a helpful (to them) updates to either kill their phones stone dead or make them have all the functionality of a Sinclair ZX80 once they were three years old.
If it works and does what you need it to do, why the hell should you feel the need to contribute a little more to the $300 billion that Apple already has sitting in the bank?
Apple didn't always suck. iPod classic and Apple IIe was cool.
But Apple does suck most bogusly now.
It's normal. I know someone who stuck with an iPhone 5S until they had to switch to an SE. Don't feel pressured to upgrade to the latest.
Nothing wrong about having an older phone. I myself still use an HTC One from 2013
Hey, if it works for you, than it's normal. If your phone has enough speed and processing power that you need, then I don't see any reason to upgrade. Heck, I'm one of those guys that always wants the latest and greatest stuff, But I Understand that not everyone needs super high processing power for mobile gaming and processor demanding apps. I imagine you only use your phone for things like Texting and Facebook, Maybe email, And of course, phone calls. An iPhone 3 GS or an old 2009 Blackberry or something like that could do that kind of stuff, So it's perfectly normal to own an iPhone 5S! If it ain't broke, don't fix it! I used to own an iPhone 5S and I thought it was pretty cool, And my dad still has a Samsung Galaxy S6 and he satisfied with it!
Also, I know there's a lot of capitalization errors and stuff in this post, I'm using windows voice to speech because I don't have a keyboard right now
I still have a phone where you crank a crank and ask the operator to connect you.
You know it is funny, people get all into this political bullshit or go hipster or "I am not materialistic, my phone is a three year old android!" In the real world, no one, save for marketers, cares what kind of phone you have.
My "older" cell phone was FREE because the person who gave it to me thought she HAD to have the latest and greatest model. Of course now that same "latest and greatest" phone is screwed up somehow.
I still have my iPhone 5S. Had the battery replaced for $80 a couple weeks ago, works as good as new. There's no way I'm paying $1500 for a smartphone.
I had a 5c just maybe 2 years ago now I’m at a 6 I love apple but sometimes the older models can be better. I have a 7 I’m in the process of restoring but I’ll prob just sell it after I get it working because I like having a headphone jack.
I’m keeping my iPhone 6s as long as possible because I understand the newer ones have issues. As long as your 5 is holding a charge, keep it. I’ve read reviews on the Xs by people wishing they still had their old 5s and 6s.
I use a samsung phone because I cannot afford an iphone which despite what many say are really the best, in my opinion.
But all the cool kids say they are, Nikki! And all the cool kids have one, and I wanna be a cool kid, so I gotta have one, Nikki!
Wow Boojum. I really wasn't expecting this from you. At first I thought you were Dappled under another identity but this confirms that you're not. So from one single comment I've made you've concluded that I'm just another one who wants to fit and be another cool kid. Maybe it's to impress 'la galerie' with your good jeux de mots or simply wanting to mock and be funny. I don't know.
"Jeux de mots"? You might want to check out what that phrase actually means.
I've always thought people who slaver over the latest Apple product are herd-following tech fashion victims with far more money than sense. I also believe that Apple is a malign force in many ways. Just as I never willingly put money in the pocket of Rupert Murdoch, Donald Trump, and many others, I will never contribute to Apple's obscenely bloated bottom line. I'm far from the only one who thinks that way, but of course it is just an opinion. If it bothers you, maybe you want to examine why.
And, no, I'm not Dappled, whoever he or she is.
This kind of response I appreciate because you're disagreeing with me without being a dick about it. This I respect. And no, your opinion doesn't bothers me. It's the way you have choosen to show your disagreement: I was surprised by your response because I've been around here for years and recently back and you were one of those 'new' users I noticed was never mean. Which is very easy here as we are anonymous.
