I studied this degree.

I studied a degree in BSc (Hons) Human Resource Management, do you think it’s pointless? Most of the people who are in good paid HR jobs don’t even have a degree in HR. It feels like all the studying I did was pointless, it’s hard to get into a job right never mind HR. What do you guys think? Please do tell if you have studied an pointless degree...

Been there! I worked HR for 8 yrs 5 with my degree in HR. When I left that job only offers I could get were low ball starting HR jobs that most didn't need or have a degree.
If you can manage to get a top level HR job they pay well but many are being out sourced.
I got a second back up in computer science but if you're not into the software side of that, again design and hardware has been out sourced.
I ended up in sales and PR. No education is ever worthless, I apply my knowledge of people and electronics really just about everyday, however, besides opening a door somewhere the degrees themselves never made me a dime.
I would suggest if you're really into the HR and want to make it work for you. Start your own HR firm and go out and get the business of small companies. They hate the payroll, hiring, recruiting, training, benefits, and whiney people needs of running a company. The payroll, benefits, and required documentation of training can be pretty easy sale to small business owners.

    Good luck!

You should never feel dumb for educating yourself and taking your career seriously, you should feel proud of your accomplishment. If people without HR degrees get these jobs over you then that's a fault with the system and not with you. Of course degrees aren't everything, experience and natural ability are arguably more important. But you've certainly gotten off to a better start in your career with this degree than someone without it, so you should feel proud about that.

HR jobs can pay well and it cant hurt having it on your resume. Especially once you get working experience you could find a higher paying HR job and impress them with your resume. if you had on your resume "10 years working HR experience and a degree in HR" it sounds good

Human resources is needed in normal office affairs so yes its needed. Only problem is that the gender studies majors also tend to get into the human resource field too so you got competition from a completely different major.

Do whatever makes you happy, or at least a job that doesnt make you wanna off yourself everyday. I'm the kind of person who cant have a hobby become a job because it ruins the enjoyment. I'm currently in the architecture program. It's not devoted to us being legit architects but the jobs supporting architects (drafters, estimators, etc.) It's a line of work that is at least comfortable and interesting.

I was an HR manager and Director. It’s not a useless degree at all, but I think you’re going to have to start off as a generalist to get some experience before you get promoted to management. I’ve never heard of anyone being hired right into HR management.
