I think aliens are responsable for our technology.

In the last 150 years, our society has advanced too much for us to have all the stuff we have today. I am always amazed in the huge amout of things we have and it doesnt make sense that humans could have done all of it. Most of the stuff we use was made recently and even the amount of little mass produced items seems like someone else had to help in the making of it. I think aliens must have given us this technology because humans are much too stupid to have come up with this all on their own.

"...humans are much too stupid to have come up with this all on their own."

You are thinking of people such as yourself. Someday you should look into the crowd they have in any major company like Intel, Microsoft, Apple, and so on.

People are stupid... what a stupid thing to say. I mean, most of them are, but how do you get from there to aliens? By reasoning like a...

I find your condescending attitude and pathetically inept list of 3 corporations, all of which are computer/software manufacturers hysterical. There is way more advanced technology on Earth, and many far more intelligent 'groups' of people than those found developing endless lines of over priced hand held devices for stupid people to snap up. How about Cern for instance? The largest machine in the world which is used to collide particles accelerated to nearly the speed of light to recreate the first moments of the big bang, right here on Earth. The 14 mile long accelerator also has a 5 story camera so people who are ACTUALLY brilliant scientists can learn, not just make billions off stupid people like you.

      • I've always thought cern's LHC is a stupid invention because it has potential to end the world. The world should thank me for making it malfunction back in 2008.

This comment is simply self evident that you don't understand what the LHC is nor how it works.

And yet here we are, five years later...

Prof. Steven Hawking, Lucasian Professor of Mathematics, Cambridge University

"The world will not come to an end when the LHC turns on. The LHC is absolutely safe. ... Collisions releasing greater energy occur millions of times a day in the earth's atmosphere and nothing terrible happens."

I find your condescending attitude pathetic.

How about this? We send you out in to the woods with nothing more than a hatchet. You are not to return until you have sent us an email from your smart phone. You may use a corporate network to connect your smart phone and transmit the email. But everything leading up to that you must develop yourself.

I'm not being condescending, rather, I'm defending this person's right to hold a radical viewpoint contradictory to mainstream society. Little_freak chose to insult the asker by insinuating their stupidity for believing what essentially every person of faith believes, all achievement is bestowed. I cannot say one way or the other. Calling someone stupid and labeling a statement you mostly agree with as stupid is pretty stupid. There is extraordinary technology out there, remarkable things that do incredible things, none of which feed off mindless consumerism by marketing the next big thing, usually a slight upgrade or revision of something someone else did first. As to whatever the hell you're talking about, I live in Wyoming, I go into the woods to cut and cord my own firewood. The woods here are out of cell phone range for the flip phone I use rather than a smart phone, as I believe smart phones can be a crutch for stupid, uninteresting people. What exactly am I to develop myself? Are you implying steve jobs created the ipod or iphone using a hatchet and the woods? If so, then yeah, maybe aliens are responsible for our technology.

We've come a long way but if you follow the advances you can see how each is responsible for the next. From the Industrial Revolution all the way through to the Computer Age / Internet Age (both computers and the internet make advancement much easier than at any time in the past).

Imagine if Newton and Leibniz had been able to chat via email or have personal websites? Things would have happened faster still. It's our technology itself that is responsible for the ever-quicker rate of expansion, even though the downside is that people seem less educated now than the recent past.

That's right. An acceleration effect is created by quick communications, and lightening fast processors that simulate solutions to incredibly complex problems.

You've gotta love technology's unstoppable momentum.

Yeah, although the worry is that just under 70 years ago we invented a bomb that could lay waste to a city, 35 to 40 years ago we had Three Mile Island and then Chernobyl which affected a continent, and in recent times we turned on the LHC in which tiny black holes were created. The physics said we were safe, and we were, but it could have been a costly mistake had there been one.

As the rate accelerates, the risk of a mistake remains the same, but the scale of the mistake expands exponentially.

In other words, annihilation stops the unstoppable. Whew, you still gotta love it.

The LHC does not create tiny black holes. That's nonsense made up by people who simply do not understand what the technology is.

All they do (as if it was simple), is crash high energy particles in to one another to analyse the results. The resulting energy is very high, but it's on a tiny scale.

Perhaps you should try to understand something before making false statements?

They are responsible for some of our modern technology. They were more responsible for the technology that The Ancients (wrongfully called "primitive" by most scientists.) possessed. There were once many advanced Ancient civilisations. In some ways, they were more advanced than civilisation is today.

I need to have a word with these aliens then because my last phone just randomly stopped working and you would think that these advanced aliens would be able to make a simple cellphone that didn't break for no reason.

I have a crazy theory about aliens.

Think about this.. the Bermuda triangle creates a magnetic imbalance in only that radius. What if aliens have an underwater base (Atlantis) there and they are observing their creation that is the human race?

I think it's impossible but I just like to think about crazy stuff sometimes.

Yeah just like the rest of the dumb humans who dont take time to learn a damn thing because they can get thriugh life because their attractive or strong while the rest of us who are acctually smart are laughing at their stupidity behind their backs, such as "aliens are responsible for everything around us". Guess you smart phone didnt tell you every invention stems off an older one, like computers only exsisting because of the invention of wires. Whoo that was a lot.

You're wrong though. Humans are much much more intelligent than you may think. I get surprised swell by some of the things I hear about, but it's just because we've advanced in intelligence. I don't believe aliens have ever come to this planet, but that's just my opinion, who knows what the governments hiding. Maybe you're right.

Try learning some science. Each step was literally following the last, like footsteps in the sand. Our technology has taken logical steps forward. If you'd like to try to understand how it happened, research it.

I think that E=MC2 is worth researching. We all know who described it, but how many know how many humans it took to actually get to that point? (E)nergy, (M)ass and (C)eleritas squared were different researches. Eistein was particularly fascinated with light and put the three together.

Even the logic gates of micro computer technology was developed long before the micro computer. I forget the dates, but there was some men in the 19th century who developed logic gate concepts long before a working computer was built.

It is fair to say that our technology seems to move forward at an increasing rate. And that is because that is what is happening. But, even now, everything can be traced backwards and there's no gaps in what we have achieved. There's no mystery from accidentally melting copper ore beside a camp fire to modern day science.

It took one human to get to that point, actually. Before Einstein's equation energy and mass had to applicable correlation. Although fascinated with light waves, this equation is not related to them, but rather to the amount of joules an object would give off if converted to pure energy. A better example would be the invention of the radio, television or internal combustion engine.

The earths' population is 6,973,738,433 and counting, is it hard to believe some humans are intelligent? lol.

Yeah. Four sigma above the mean is 220,969 geniuses. That's one fuck of a lot of brain power. Even if half of them piss around working at McDonalds, that's still one fuck of a lot of brain power.
