I think the west nowadays is one of the least christian place on earth

Personally, while most people in the Western world (notably Anglo-America and the EU) nowadays proclaim themselves to be Christian, I kind of feel that in reality it is perhaps one of the least Christian places on the planet. I mean there are so many un-Christian things that are mainstream in Western culture, like promiscuity, pornography, revenge, materialism, etc. In fact many people are ridiculed for not supporting the above examples. While I do see often that people will say they are Christian proudly, they are typically non-practising. Even a Buddhist temple is more "Christian", and it's not even an Abrahamic religion!

Now, I am not in any way claiming that the Western world nowadays is a bad place, nor am I saying that all people in the West are like this. It is still perhaps the best place on the planet to live, and I was born, grew up and live here. I am only saying that I think that I think despite its history with Christianity and people claiming to be religious, I think that nowadays the Western world is one of the least Christian places on the planet.

I think there is still a lot of Christians. Especially since the US gets so many Mexicans coming and a large majority of Mexicans are Catholic. They even have a Christian group in the US that has teamed up to send support to Israel(The Jews). Its a Christian/Jewish alliance. However many Atheists are usually the loudest and try to shut up anyone that does stuff like pray before they eat, or put up a Christmas tree. Despite the fact this is usually not bothering anyone else. I think people should all learn to be civil and tolerate each other.

    • I wasn't saying that Atheists were the majority or that there weren't a lot of Christians. I was saying that the culture that the West has, especially online, seems to be nearly antithetical to what Christianity preaches, and a lot of those who perpetrate such ideals are actually those who call themselves Christians.

I'm glad that the West is secular. Throughout history, religious societies talked Christian values but never practiced them. They just condemned people and killed them in the name of God.

Get ready for a barrage of atheist Hatred. Anyway, yes, the U.S. is very secular, but it was founded on the idea of religious freedom. Several of the declaration signers were atheist, heavy drinkers, and/or regularly hung out with prostitutes. That last thing was viewed a little differently back then by the way.

Christianity is about living your personal life in a way that you think God would find pleasing and that would display a good example to others for Him. Not forcing others by law to live how you think they should. Christianity started in the Roman Empire, which was one of the most "secular" societies that ever existed.

There are many different definitions of the word "christian", so "being christian" has a different meaning depending on where you are. So, this word is imo pretty pointless when judging other people's behaviour. "Christian" is neither "good" or "bad". Maybe we are becoming "less christian", but what does that even mean, does it even matter?
