I have the same problem! Does that make something normal?
It does cause a lot of anxiety to look at a page of problems, knowing that you have to do them and knowing absolutely nothing. I would review the notes from class, find videos on youtube explaining how to do them, or plain old Google :)
You CAN and WILL understand it, it's just not something that comes naturally and you have to work at a little bit harder, that's all :) best of luck!
Oh...I thought this was going to be a post about some cheerleader blowing her math teacher for an A+...:(
i still can't pull the answers to basic times tables out of my head. i have to calculate them, and it takes time. (i am 14 now).
Go to the website Kahn academy. They have free lectures that begin with basic math concepts and progress to advanced calculus.
I know what your saying. I like math now, but when I was younger math wasn't my best subject...
Just try your best! Good luck!
2 worlds wolfram alpha. Mathematics/critical thinking come almost naturally and flow smoothly but I'm totally the opposite when it comes things like art/design.
Had the same problem and although i will probably never be great at math, i at least learned how to understand those problems. The problem is, unfortunately, there arent many great math teachers left so you werent taught how to transcribe or read the basic problems correctly.
You are right. Back when talented mathematical women were not hired by aerospace firms, they could only teach. They would pound the hell out of all the smart or gifted boys to make them high achievers. This was the only professional satisfaction they would ever have in their careers.
There are probably kinesthetic ways to learn the stuff that would help you. I am good at devising kinesthetic ways to teach the stuff.
BTW, I love higher mathematics; raised my GPA at University.
Omg why most of the comments are stupid, i get insulted because i added an "s" in "maths" so everyone paid their attention to one letter and left a whole story of like 20 words, why is everyone if you can't help then don't post anything and post your sarcastic comments somewhere else.
I've never struggled with maths because it's extremely logical if you think about it. It's only difficult if you justify your working with "because my professor told me so". You just gotta understand it.
Nobody is good at everything / everybody is rubbish at something.
So yes - it's normal. I've always struggled with maths, too.
Just curious are you British or European? In the US we never say "maths" just "math".
I think its normal, most people's brains are wired either toward logics like math and formulas, or creativity like art and music. Its rare to be good at both. Most of the complex math they teach you like algebra and geometry you will never use in life...just focus on bookkeeping and the basics and it will help you with things like balancing a checkbook and keeping track of your bills.
I have the same issue. I've always struggled to understand math and it does look like fucking Korean Spanish horseshit to me.
If you need help, ask someone. Message them the equation. I'm sure someone wouldn't mind helping you solve, or understand it.
