I treat rocks like they have feelings

I collect rocks. I'll choose a few to take home, then organise them with other rocks I think they'll like. If I have too many I'll release them back into the wild, wherever I found them. I can't bring myself to just throw them in the bin.
I know rocks are just rocks but I care about them.

100%. Rocks are the carriers of everything organic and therefore human and worthy of love. Don't get me started on stones though...

I love rocks! I found a bunch shaped like hearts that I've given to my boyfriend and a bunch that are flat so I stack them...love that shit. And shells and sea glass and drift wood and..... They have history and I appreciate them.

Oh, how could I forget to mention this!!! I got some sweet rocks from Iceland back in March. I was on a Game of Thrones tour...it was epic. I got rocks from the Bloody Gates and "Meereen" and one of the Icelandic horse farms and random places. Heckin ya!!!

        • That's pretty damn cool!

  • Why do I find that strangely adorable?

    Comment Hidden ( show )
  • I do too! I also treat bodies of water that way. Last when I was done swimming in Lake Michigan I kissed the water and said “thank you.”

I know this may sound corny, but if you respect nature it will be kind back.

I've said "good game my friend" to fish I've caught, but I haven't thanked a body of water after swimming in it...

Really? Did It give you a good fight? Was it a jumbo catfish of what?

Yeah mostly catfish, carp and northern pikes. My largest catch was a 5kg pike.
My dad's record is a 8,3kg pike. An absolute beast! His also caught a 4kg catfish once.

When you're doing fly fishing, anything above 2 kilos can give you one hell of a fight.
Especially if they sneak into some seaweeds. Me and my dad have lost a bunch of flies to sneaky fish.

Looking forward to fishing with my dad next week as I'm on vacation, starting this Saturday.

Never caught a carp actually. Northern pike fishing is excellent in my home state so I have caught many, many of those. Biggest was 34 inches and I don't know maybe 12 pounds? But I'm quite a catfish catcher, nothing crazy big but 6 total fish over 15 pounds in my career. Never fly fishing tho. Next week actually I'm headed on a vaction to rend lake Illinois to maybe catch some catfish. Best of luck mate!

I took a shit in lake superior once. True story. How does that make you feel mister bodies of water have feelings. Also is swimming nude rape? Or maybe sexual assualt at least?

      • I don’t expect people to have the extreme views I do, and as long as they’re not going out their to pollute the water, I wouldn’t hold it against them. If I was in the middle of the lake on boat trip I’d probably do the same. I wouldn’t like it, but it wouldn’t entirely bother my conscious.

As for swimming nude, I don’t think it’s wrong.

          • I don’t think I’d ever truly dislike you. Plus I don’t think you’d make a habit of willful pollution, and when you need to shit - you need to shit.

Well thats rather nice of you! Forced shitting is sexy also. In terms of pollution, I don't care as long as nobody does it deliberatly, consistently, needlessly, or to a significant degree.

I don't mean to sound like a know-it-all, but I think this belief is called Animism. It's a perfectly valid spiritual belief to have. Although, I do wonder what you believe about if that rock broke and split into two smaller rocks. Is that rock then killed? Or are two new rocks born?

Yeah I did that too, amongst collecting other things. When I was little i had difficulties throwing paper away because I thought even that has feelings.
I get u, it’s quite weird but as long as it doesn’t get unhealthy I think it’s fine

Heres the deal, if you like rocks and collect them, I'm fine. But there is a point where you can assign it to much value. If I smash a rock with another rock and you start crying, your a pansy fuckwad. And if you think they deserve rights and shit like animals than you are really fucking stupid. Not syaing thats you, I'm just throwing that out there. Now enjoy your rocks!

Currency is based on a "rock" and in a way, we do give it too much value. A sacred mountain may just be a "rock" but as humans we assign meaning to lots of things. I bet you would cry if I smashed your phone. Some rocks are more common than others and more useful. And some are just pretty.

Nope. I wouldn't cry If you smashed my phone. I would crumple your thoracic spine.

How oddly specific and vague at the same time. I'll take that as a yes, you would weep like a widower who doesn't know how to cope outside codependency. It's okay, there's no shame in feeling feelings

I mean I don't disagree with what it seems like your arguing, but if I break a random rock from the ground and you cry, your a fuckwad. Its like money. Its just paper. Paper that has lots of value, but it doesn't have value BECAUSE its paper. We just needed to assign value to something convenient to use as currency.

Like so many, you lack empathy. It isn't about a rock. Random is probably not the accurate word here. And what looks insignificant to you, may not be so to another. It could have been an unmarked grave for their beloved pet/child/lover/grandparent. Even if you knew it was just a silicate composition they thought was pretty, why does it make them a fuckwad? what is a fuckwad? an incongruent ball of sex. We are all this. Unless you're a robot. Then you are just some dumb bits of rock.
