I want to get rid of my dog, but my fiance loves it...

My fiance got me a pomeranian because my cat went missing and I was sad...

I loved the fact that he thought of me enough to do that and I have always thought that poms are cute, but I fucking HATE this dog.

I am an animal lover; never in my life have I come across an animal I couldn't get attached to... until now.

This dog is nasty. He eats dead things in the road, he eats bugs, he waits for my other dog to pee so he can drink it, he eats cat shit, and yesterday he ate his OWN shit out of the yard. He also marks EVERYTHING and can't be potty trained (I have been consistently taking him out for weeks and using a kennel at night.) I literally sat outside for 30 mins one time trying to let this dog do his business and when he wouldn't, I assumed he didn't have to so I took him in. AS SOON AS we came into the house and I turned my back, he shit on the floor. It's infuriating!!!

Another thing this dog does is annoy my other animals. I have another dog and two cats. I try to give love and attention evenly so no one is jealous or feels excluded. When I pet my other dog, the pom will do EVERYTHING he can to get the attention on him. He pushes my other dog, gets in her face, shoves his face in her ass, ANYTHING so that I will stop petting her. Same goes for my cats. I feel like his need for attention bothers me more than it should.

He also eats the other animals food but wont eat his own.

My fiance loves this dog even though it was meant for me, and I really hate to get rid of it, but this dog makes me crazy angry. And I'm tired of cleaning up after him. How do I get rid of the dog without hurting my fiance's feelings?

This is why I firmly believe people shouldn't give pets as gifts. I think if someone wants to give a pet as a gift he/she ought to simply offer to pay the price of the purchase of the pet or the pet adoption fee. I do not think it's ever appropriate to obtain a pet for someone and then present it to them, not even a mouse or a parakeet. The person for whom the gift of a pet is intended ought to be allowed to pick out the desired animal companion. I think whether or not this advice is heeded can make the difference between a wonderful pet and pet parent relationship or sadly just another responsibility or burden.

I hate pomeranians. Have you told your fiancé you despise this dog? That would be a start. My other suggestion would be to see that the dog goes "missing" like your cat (which I'm sorry to hear about)

Just make sure you find it a good home.

Everyone deserves a good home. The dog didn't have a choice about going to someone that doesn't want it so it shouldn't be punished by being euthanized.

Screw it, its an animal like a bird, squirrel or any other animal. Let it loose and let it survive on its own.

If not then maybe it can provide some food for an animal that can.

Domestic animals aren't the same as wild animals.

Well if you can't take it to a Proper trainer to get sorted ! You should either give it away to a good home (checking on who how they are) or phone a rescue home to take it
If it's making your life a misery you got to out it no good otherwise YOU TWO will come to an end

Hi.. yes I agree it is difficult to handle this kind of behavior from dog but if your fiance loves the dog so much, you can ask him to train the dog with a deadline, if dog gets trained well and good, you keep him otherwise give him up for adoption.

Help it to "Run away" to the nearest no-kill shelter.

Because I don't think the dog (no matter how ill behaved) deserves to die because the OP doesn't want it any more. Just a personal preference.

I'm not gonna cook it lol. And I posted him up for sale and got a few calls, but now my fiance is saying that he loves the dog too much to let him go. Idk what to do. I need to call 'Its Me or the Dog.'

Dogs live for 20 years. I can't deal with this animal anymore.
