I want to quit drinking for my health but i can't?

I have irresponsible drinking behaviours that keep causing me problems. I end up with broken nails and cuts and broken bits and pieces and such. I have to see a dentist because I damaged my teeth when I was drunk. I usually drink 6 beers and two bottles of wine, but I had to get another 3 bottles of beer to pass out last time. I had only one bottle of beer left and I was irritated and shaky. I drank the last bottle but it wasn't enough. I am desperate to buy more alcohol soon but I'm trying to look after my health. I'm stuck.

You should find a good detox/rehab facility. Alcohol withdrawal iss dangerous and it's so hard to wean yourself off when ur sick.

Do you have the “tremens”? I’m also a heavy drinker unfortunately. I’ve never experienced the tremens, but I’ve known people who have and it’s very scary.

I think you need medical attention. There is help available to you that can help you wean off the alcohol. I’ve been prescribed Ativan before, personally. I was also in a state where I was experiencing some auditory hallucinations, which was very scary. Ativan did the trick though. The hallucinations stopped and I was able to quit drinking.

Ativan is still a VERY dangerous drug, make no mistake. Please don’t try to seek it out on your own. But when it’s administered properly by a medical professional it can be helpful. There are LOTS of other medications doctors can prescribe you that will help as well, I just don’t recall the names.

The fact that you have the “shakes” is a potentially dangerous sign. I’m sorry, but it is. It’s far from hopeless though, you can definitely recover with help. Please seek medical attention.

I’m not sure where you live. Please bear with me...if you can’t seek medical attention then just try to drink a bit less for the time being and seek out support from people OUTSIDE of your drinking circle. There are AA meetings in most parts of the world, I believe. There are other groups similar to AA as well, though they’re less common. AA isn’t perfect, but it will put you in a place where you can talk to kindred spirits. They’ll know more about how to help you. Stay safe.

Well done for acknowledging that you have a problem. I agree with weirdguy that seeking external support will be key.

Do you get bad hang overs?
How I stopped was, I couldn't bare the hang overs and the pain and uncomfortableness made me stop eventually. I was never a heavy drinker.
May be use that trick? If you have unpleasant hang overs. Physical uncomfortableness most of the time allow to give up things.

I've been meaning to answer your questions (I'm assuming the previous ones on the topic were yours too) since I noticed them. I will, eventually. Maybe I can help...

Get to AA asap. First step is to admit you have a drinking problem.

You are an alcoholic. This is sadly normal and there is treatment.
