I wish i was born in the 20th century

I was born in 2002. And while I appreciate that I was born in a time when the world was connected and I have had instant access to information since I was, well, an infant, I also wish I was born before earlier.

I find the 20th Century very fascinating. It’s probably the only century in which each decade had its distinct identity. It was as horrible as it was good. There were way more interesting subcultures, and there were drastic cultural changes.

I wish I could have witnessed technology evolve to what we have today to appreciate it better. When you have instant technology at your hands you loose your sense of wonder, things are what they are. I just feel like a lot of the tech has made people stupid and divided. I wish I was around when it was fun.

    I get what you're saying, but for every time period there are advancements that seemed illogical before. The same will be true in the years to come.

    I’m very jealous of my dads generation, but one thing that always brings me back down to earth is the Vietnam war, he was very lucky not to go, and there is a high likelihood I wouldn’t exist if he had

    I totally get it. I was born in the late 90s and I tell my mom she was so lucky to witness the 70s, 80s and 90s, but she says she didn't have time to appreciate any of it because she was working her ass off. So I guess the 20th century was only fun if you were at least upper middle class.

      The good thing back then is the lack of technology forced people to get out more

    That's interesting, and I totally agree that the decades of the 20th century had their distinct identities. But who knows? Maybe we'll look back and see the 21st century the same. I was born in the early 90s so I was the last group of kids to grow up without tech at our hands 24/7. It feels like after 9/11/01, at least in the US, times shifted significantly. It's like we entered a new realm after that (not strictly because of that event, but just as a mark of time).

    I was born in 1950 and saw the best of it. I was 18 in 1968. 26 in '76 and 40 in 1990.

    I was born in the mid '90s and have always wished in a way that I could've experienced the '70s and '80s, as they seemed like cool/fun times to be alive. I think many people have a fascination/curiosity about times before they were born. You're correct that every decade of the 20th century seemed to be distinct, but I think so will the 21st century once enough time has passed.
