I would prefer having hair, but if a large portion is lost I think completely bald looks better. If you have a way to prevent hair loss that works, then why not?
Personally I think it depends how much. If its slightly receding maybe keep it. But if it gets to the point where you dont have hair on the top of your head then it looks much better to just be completely bald. But the ending choice is yours. Also possible its temporary or you could reverse it somehow
Hair loss can be due to the fall of the genetic dice when a man was conceived, an acute or chronic health problem or, as you suggest might be the case for you, stress. (Although I suspect that's actually a health problem too, since I assume the mechanism responsible for making hair follicles give up is hormone levels going awry.) There are various drugs on the market which supposedly reduce the loss-rate, but I'm sceptical of those. I also think you have to be pretty damn desperate to go through the hair-plug procedure.
I agree with others who have advised that you avoid going for a comb-over or any sort of hairstyle that tries to conceal what's going on with artful arrangement and spray to hold it all in place. Those hairstyles fool only the dumbest and at a distance, and they make most people wonder just how vain the guy is.
Some guys look good billiard ball smooth, but it's an extreme look and it requires regular maintenance which I for one would find too annoying. What you might consider is going short - as in about an inch long or maybe a bit less all over. There's a paradoxical effect that if a guy's remaining hair is really short, that makes the completely bald areas less glaringly obvious. Another advantage of keeping your hair at a uniform short length is that you can trim it yourself and save the expense and hassle of going to a barber. If you get a good quality hair clipper set (I think Wahl is a good brand), there a set of clip-on comb/guard things to cut at various lengths included will be included, and you just need to run the clipper over your head every couple of weeks to stay neat. The back of the head takes a little practice, but it's not difficult. If you have a significant other in your life, asking them to do this task can be a nice little bonding thing.
First, I would try ditching pop and junk food. My husband switched to a healthier diet and his balding pattern started to reverse a bit and in the long run his balding pattern dramatically slowed down. If it doesn't fix your hairline, it will still make you overall more handsome and energetic.
After that, don't mess with it. I have a twenty year old co-worker who was thinking about getting hair plugs and I get it, a twenty year old man feels entitled to have a head of hair, HOWEVER, hair plug are permanent and he will look like a douchebag when he is sixty with hair plugs.
If I had the money I'd do a hair transplant. Given that the person is 18 though they probably don't have the money needed for one.
It depends on how bad it was and what could be done to save it. I'd try to save it if it were reasonable or possible, but cut my losses if not.
I’d try to save it. But not very hard. I look cute as fuck with my head shaved. And wigs can be fun.
Depends how bad it was if its too bad it cant be saved anyway. Theres a few drugs that can help if its not too bad.
It's not too bad it's receding only and maybe thinning from stress? Not sure but seems receding. So would something help it?
Knew a guy who was 23 and already had a combover hairdo. What a shame but honestly at that point shaving it off has to be better than a pitiful combover.
Shave your head if you are a male because I don't think there is any treatment currently that can restore a full head of hair. Not even close
