It's less of a genetics thing and more of a nurture thing.
If your mother was, let's say, a heroin addict, studies HAVE shown that this negatively affects the baby. I think they display withdrawal symptoms but I can't be 100% sure.
Most likely if you grow up in a bad neighborhood with an addict- filled environment, then the chances you may be an addict too.
But remember- at the end of the day it is still YOUR choice. Just because you are more predisposed to this stuff, doesn't mean it is inevitable. If you don't want to be an addict, do as much as you can to make sure you stay clean.
It’s the old apple not falling far from the tree argument. You are more likely to become an addict. But it’s still your choice to do it or stay that way if you already are one.
I don't know this for sure but I believe if a mom was addicted to specifically heroin during pregnancy then It is VERY VERY likely for the baby to be addicted to heroin because heroin injected straight into the bloodstream.
yes, especially if the mother is an addict during pregnancy. the baby will be born addicted to whatever drug she was taking at the time
yes, no one is ever born learning something before they do, except for survival things, but what I meant is learning something from their parents, which process in their brain as normal.
