  • You are self medicating. Drink decaf, take Valerian (a natural calming root), and lay off the booze.

      • Any drugstore will have it in capsule form. They smell awful but are actually tasteless, and yes they work and are safe. My doctor recommended it and she took them while she was pregnant.

Lots of people think of alcohol as a stimulant, but it's actually classed as a depressant drug since it slows down the activity of the central nervous system and has sedative effects.

What you describe is normal, but it would be better if you treated your body with more respect and ate more regularly and didn't binge on caffeine. Using alcohol to self-medicate for anything is never a great idea, since there's no level of alcohol consumption which is good for you.

    • So would that mean I have nervous system problems?

I'm not a doctor, so I have no idea if you have problems with your central nervous system. However, you said you specifically got tremors when you hadn't eaten much and implied that you were basically living on coffee. Caffeine is a stimulant, and it's common for it to produce some degree of muscle spasms. I suppose I should have mentioned this in my first response, but I assumed this was common knowledge.

Basically, what you're seeing is the result of taking a sedative to counteract a stimulant.
