Is it normal america hates youth?

We really screw over youth in this country. I dont understand why. We should be preparing them to go into the work place. Yet no one seems to care about that. We just want to make sure they cant succeed or place a ton of bricks on their back for them to do it. We make it impossible to get money for school, but will gladly give a bunch to anyone over 25. They also highly restrict the college fund for new students (Freshmen) but give a lot more to anyone who has two years of school. I dont understand the sense in this I really dont.

They now only want to hire people with years of experience and not straight out of college. So all that money you spent your time scrounging up is down the drain. Seriously? This is not rational at all! Who was the idiot who thought screwing over the young was good for the economy? Since its really not.

The new generation is suppose to replace the old generation in entry level jobs, as the older generation 60/50/70 are suppose to retire. Yet we dont do that. We make it impossible for children to go to college unless you are psychotic or have rich parents. While we also limit them from getting jobs. What idiot thought screwing over the young was a good thing? This is the shit that is ruining the economy!

You are missing out on a bit of recent history. Not so long ago, it wasn't the norm for the average person to go to college. It wasn't necessarily required or thought of so highly in many professions. But back then college was actually able to give you an edge and that factor sort of blew up and then college got bigger than its britches so to speak. Quality of education leveled out for the most part and the paper meant more than anything. Now everyone 'has' to go to college like it's just an extension of high school for many, or completely fake in the case of for-profit schools. It's imploding right now though! We are slowly but surely realizing we have put too much stock in degrees, regulated experienced people without 'papers' out of jobs and are throwing too much easily-had money into college. Look up 'college bubble burst'. It's coming. People jumping through the college hoop, going into major debt and still being unemployable. It is a big problem now.

That said, there are still valuable educational avenues you can take. Look into trades. School is cheaper and jobs are there.

    • Yeah no sorry to burst your bubble. Trade schools are not any cheaper.I dont think counseling should be a job you need school for but maybe experience and show you have know how. I also dont think fashion designer or interior decorator needs a degree.

Well, yes, trade schools are often cheaper. Ignore for-profit institutions! Look at your local cc's or state schools that offer trades. Or have you ever asked to get on as an apprentice or a helper anywhere? That is a thing still. Trades fell out of fashion when the college thing bloomed but trades remained needed and have only raised significantly in earnings ever since. A novice plumber can easily make more than anyone with a bachelors degree in virtually anything.

Yes, trade schools are cheaper; I'm getting an associate's degree in something that is directly applicable to a trade at a local community college right now; it would cost about $2,500 per semester if I went full time. Filling out a FAFSA will get you financial aid. Not bad!

Edited to add: A family member of mine also got an apprenticeship as a construction worker. He did well in it, and his union paid for him to go to college in full. There are many options out there; you just have to be creative and realize that not everyone is going to get the standard 4 year vacation on Daddy's credit card that many have American youth have unfortunately come to expect.

        • You obviously never looked into trade school. Trade schools often will charge more for the fact you dont have to take as long. As well as that some of them make you pay monthly so the money you get for fasfa does not actually cover the fees, but you are required to pay out of pocket. I know since I looked into trade school, as well as that believing that Fasfa is a magic ticket makes you kind of stupid. You have no idea how much stuff actually costs. Tuition is expensive as hell.

I think the school loans screw the young a lot and if you consolidate, because you have no choice, they can screw you until 50 or so..

I have no idea why you think this is a strictly American thing.
Why do you think you are owed a college education? Why would anybody give money to an unproven freshman, when those students with two years of school have proved they deserve the money?
If an education is something you want, then go out and earn the money yourself, then go to school. There are a ton of very high paying jobs out there, but they are very hard work, and sometimes dangerous. So, if an education is what you want, stop griping on the computer and get to work instead.

    • That is not really the point. America pushes everyone to have a degree even for things you dont need one for. Yet they make it impossible to afford college. You cant reasonably expect people to get to point D if they cant start A can you? Its not rational at all.

Further why do all students NEED to get into college? When in fact we make them compete? That is setting at least half of the kids for failure. Why does simply having rich parents mean you DESERVE more? That is complete bullshit. I dont see why you believe that being rich makes you automatically more privileged and deserving of a job, future and education.

Your parents earned the money not you. So why does being born to rich or poor parents change how deserving you are? You dont pick your parents. You are really fucking delusional if you believe that somehow being born into money makes you magically more intelligent. You are also delusional to believe that getting a high paying job without education makes sense. People go to college to get a high paying job idiot. Its the same mentality. You cant do D without hitting A. Are you that stupid?

And you are delusional if you think life is fair.
Everyone must play the cards they are dealt. I have repeatedly cautioned those on here seeking advice about education to think very, very carefully about beginning their working life with a 6 figure debt. That is a lot of pressure, especially considering that that education does NOT guaranty one a good job, hell, any job at all.
I'd bet it's pretty hard to pay off a 6 figure debt working in fast food.

        • I never said life is fair. I said America seems to make life hard for youth. Its not helpful or productive. Its also not good for the economy to make it impossible to get work. We cant be telling the new generation they dont need a job since they are either going to end up in the streets or on welfare. Last time I checked having a crap ton of poor, jobless, homeless is NOT A GOOD THING. No intelligent person would think so.

We have taxes and those come from tax payers. those taxes fund stuff like military, public schooling, as well as welfare. The only reason we can have people on stuff like welfare is because we have more people working than we do homeless. When we start getting way more homeless than working we put more strain on a single person since there is less people to take money from.

It has nothing to do with FAIR. No one said shit was FAIR. Though even if you believe we should have 80% on welfare and 20% working is a good idea. America is turning into a third world country and the reason why is we dont understand the future is children.

Children are the future. No that that is not just an ideal its a hard fact. The children make up the new generation and we should make sure they are successful and become productive members of society. We dont though, we make it impossible for them to succeed. Why are we doing this? This makes no sense, not from an economic perspective.
