Is it normal constant sleep paralysis? please help!

I have a huge problem with sleep paralysis, ever since I was a kid. (If you don't know what that is, please take a second to Google. It's basically when you're not quite asleep but not quite awake, and you might see funny things). I've only had three full experiences in my life in which I hallucinated shadows and stuff while not being able to move.

The other times, I get that sensation like I'm floating out of my body and then falling back in a few seconds later, which happens about every few days or so, and has for many years. Sometimes (rarely, luckily) it happens up to a dozen times in one night, which is extremely annoying!

The question is, is it normal to experience sleep paralysis like this constantly, or is my mind/body a little messed up?

  • I had it just last night. Sucks so much.

The last time I had it before last night was the worst and genuinly freaked me out. My heart was pounding and only getting faster as if I was just slightly off from having a heart attack. I could feel the beats in my chest without putting my hand over it. I sturggled to open my eyes but when I did and could see slightly, all I seen was this tall man in a long black cloak/jacket with long white hair and pure white skin. His hair was covering most of his face (it was parted down the middle) and the only facial features I could see was his nose and mouth. He was holding his right hand with a little girl that just seemed like a normal little girl in a child's dress. Both were just staring at me and I couldn't move. I was starting to et a bit frightened but primarily due to the heart part. I tried moving and couldn't and they were just staring. I tend to beableto move slightly when this happens and really slowly so I was able to move my arm to try pull myself up but then couldn't and my eyes closed and I was sure I was about to die. Wokeup the next morning covered in sweat.

That experience was just strange to me. It seemed so real and made me believe in the supernatural for a little while until I just decided it couldn't possibly be and I mustof been seeing things.

Sleep paralysis is not fun and I get it too much.

Keep plants in your room. It may sound a little strange but believe me, it does work. I haven't had sleep paralysis since keeping plants in my room. The only brush with the "supernatural" I've had was the time when I accidentally astral projected.

Actually, sleep paralysis takes place on the astral plane. It occurs when the body is still asleep, but the soul is awake. The soul gets stuck in the body. The things you have encountered aren't hallucinations, sadly...

Plants naturally form a protective barrier around themselves and those that care for them. (If you are interested in plant sentience, I highly recommend reading "The Secret Life of Plants") They have been used for centuries by many different cultures and religions to ward of evil spirits and for protection.

Make sure that you properly care for your plants and that they are healthy. I had some unpleasant and scary "visits" (not sleep paralysis) when I was only using an unwell plant for protection.

Try learning how to lucidly dream. You can snap urself out of it. When I get sleep paralysis I can normally move my thumbs just a bit if it rrreeeaaaalllly try to. Maybe u can hook up a bucket of water that dumps on u with a button push lol.

I don't get sleep paralysis anymore. I unfortunately seemed to have lost the ability to Lucid Dream, unless last night's dream could be considered going Lucid. I wasn't even intending to so, but boy was it worth it. Usually, I get too lost in my dreams to be able to think for myself and manipulate them.

    • Thanks for reading and replying! I approached this with a more scientific tone, as many people on this site don't believe in the supernatural, but I believe I've astral projected many times (with three cases of sleep paralysis. Not fun). I have many plants in my house, and many were in my room, but no matter how well I care for the ones in my room, they always end up dying. Is there any substitute for this?

I would look up the care instructions for your plants. If it is a problem with not watering them enough, succulents, cacti, and agave are good alternatives. They just need lots of light. Sunlight works best, but bright indoor lighting works well too.

I have sleep paralysis all the time, sometimes I can have up to 3 episodes on a really bad night and no matter how many times it happens throughout the course of life it never gets less scarier. I have found that when having an episode try to relax as much as you can and remind yourself that you are safe, don't fight it the more you do the more 'the force" pins you down. Try to move your toes and keep trying until you fully wake up and also to avoid another episode during the same night don't fall right back to sleep after an episode allow yourself to wake up then go back to bed again. I hope it gets easier and less frequent, I truly understand how tyrannical sleep paralysis can be.
