They should add an "autopilot" mode for you to use when you want to. But they should NEVER take away the controls.
Cause if I can't drive my car, what's the point of having a car? What's the point of buying some high-tech, twin-turbo speed machine if the digital pretend woman in the dashboard will baby me around at low speeds...
Sometimes I would use such a feature. In traffic jams for example. But if I had a car with "auto pilot" I'd drive it in manual mode 90% of the time
Driving is the best thing. I want to feel the car, move with it. Driving is so much more than just turning a wheel and pressing some pedals. Driving is an art!
What they should make is fully autonomous cars for bad drivers. A "autonomous license" you pay for at the DMV, you get that document and you can only own autonomous cars.
If you are an enthusiast, you go for a regular license.
Then the roads will be safer and those of us who enjoy driving and love cars won't fear that a bad driver is lurking somewhere near
I say go for it!
I haven't read the article about the cars in California, but I was wondering if you think by having more computer controlled cars if there would be less accidents?
They have been testing these for years in the Nevada desert. Thanks Google. These will be a reality within a few years. I believe Google is currently petitioning the state for a robot license, so to speak.
Self-driving cars? That would be cool and a godsend to those that have a hard time driving. The roads would probably be alot safer as well.
