I have dropped them from at least 4 or 5 feet up and they landed flat on their glass on travertine tile floor. This has happened a couple times with each device. I was fully expecting them to be completely cracked/shattered but theres never a scratch even !!
Is it normal or am i just really, really, really lucky ?
It's just luck is all, my sister actually cracked hers with it in her pocket! and no, she didn't fall on it either.
And I thought it was bad enough when the last one fell from 3 feet, flat on its face, onto carpet, and shattered! everyone I know with one has gone through multiple iPhones in less than a year, but they are stuck with them cause of their contract.
You just really lucked out. Granted, anyone with a smartphone is lucky when their phone doesn't break, but iPhones seem especially fragile! Im surprised no one has tried to sue them.
Flat on the glass is the safest way to drop it. The impact is spread over the surface and less likely to crack. Most serious cracks and shatters occur when you drop your phone on its corner. The impact is more focused on a small area and more likely to break.
One would think after the first time you'd take your good luck and learn not to drop them. I guess you just aren't that smart, huh?
