Is it normal eyes tear up when keeping direct eye contact & make others tear?

Its probably anxiety related thing. I find it difficult many times to have direct eye contact with people without nervously getting my eyes tear..whats weird I'm feeling I'm making people around me tear up as well and avoid further eye contact... :-\

Do lasers shoot out of your eyes when you look at people?

    If not, it's probably ok.

Just try to look people in the eye for a short time, and gradually increase the time you can do it for.

As penknight said, people won't trust you if you don't look them in the eye.

Don't worry about it though. If you feel anxious maybe just concentrate on another feature of theirs, like their big nose! Or just look slightly off from their eyes, like at their eyebrows or something, they probably wouldn't notice.

  • You must have special eyes. Does it happen with every single person?

it doesn't happen with people I'm comfortable with...lots of people got an anxious tick (touching nose, scratching neck..all sorts) but the peculiar thing with this particular one is that it seems to "infect" the people around you...and then you get into a loop of anxiety...

      • Maybe you just have a quality most people aren't used to seeing, and it makes feel weird. Somehow, you've gotta get used to looking people in the eye, you're not likely to gain trust if you don't meet their gaze. Don't worry just take your time and get used to it slowly.
