Is it normal for a ferret to do this much damage?

I left out one of my house ferrets for an hour unsupervised and when I returned most of my house was destroyed. There was clutter everywhere, books thrown off of shelves, paper shredded. There was also a faint smell of farts in the air as well. As I walked around the beast chased me around biting at my shoes and doing the weasel war dance. Is it normal that something this small can do so much damage?

Indeed. One of mine ruined a brand new pair of shoes that I had planned to return because they were too small. Damn it! A lot of pens with the rubber grips would go missing. Buttons on the remote have been chewed off. Stuff knocked around. Glasses of beverage spilled. Ankles bitten. Socks stolen. They liked to take crinkly wrappers into the couch and go crinkle crazy for various lengths of time. Ugh those crazy little bastards.

Ferrets can do a lot of damage and can be very dirty animals that take a lot of supervision and maintanence.

My ferret is a good boy but, we all know that they're so naughty no matter how innocent they act they've got a naughty trick up their sleeve

Ferrets are more difficult to care for than a lot of animals. But other animals could do this, too.
