Is it normal for a husband to take food from his wife's plate and eat it ?

Is it normal for a woman to have a friend in for a breakfast , and then while eating (she , her husband and her friend )the husband take food from his wife's plate and put it in his plate and eat it(without her permission ) , even though he had food in his plate and finished it ?!, like the kind of food isn't something to be shared it's kinda like a small slice of pizza but instead of pizza it's cheese and something , even though the wife wanted to eat what was in her plate ?

I let him if I am near the end; as in when I start feeling full which is about half way through my meal. But if I am hungry and he goes near my plate I reckon I could easily snap his neck in half!

  • I think that food sharing amongst any cohabiting couple is normal.

In my last relationship, I ate a quarter of the amount of food he would eat, so a lot of times we would order a single large meal and divvy it up this way and share the drink from the same cup.

It was always sharing though, no taking.

Besides being an kind of an ass if he doesn't ask, I'd have to question howmuch he weighed and what he usually likes to take from the plate (EG. Meats, filler, vegetables, sidedishes, etc). Also, how he does it.

In otherwords, perhaps he likes this particular part of the meal the most, but there isn't any left or he is feeling flirty(in his own way) and gently/creatively takes some off the plate, even looking in their eyes to see how you react(?).

Or perhaps he sees that they aren't particularly interested in a certain part of the meal, or haven't got there, and he just firmly takes it without care. I'd say he's just being a self-entitled douche.

Entirely depends on context, but I'd have to see in this instance and quite possibly her lack of care over the subject possibly means that this is normal and worked into routine. Perhaps that she eats lightly and typically offers him something she doesn't want. Or she has a specialized diet and she cannot eat that particular item. Toomany blanks left empty to fully understand.

Sounds like he's just a greedy lump of lard.

My EX brother in law was like this. He couldn't get enough food, money, clothes, anything... If she wasn't offering it to him then he was being rude to her.

Some couples are so close that they share food with little problem as a result. I still think he should've asked, though.

Hmm..interesting..this could go two ways. I'm guessing you're kind of worried that he could be like one of those guys who controls his wife. Controls her eating, etc., so without a word, he was letting his wife know that she's eaten enough by taking the rest of her food. How was her body language? Did she look sad, humiliated, hunched over, defeated?

Then again, we could be over-analyzing the entire thing and they could be in a loving relationship and he could tell that his wife was full and probably wasn't going to eat it, so he decided to help himself to it so it wouldn't go to waste.

If you're really concerned though, you should talk to her.

    • I just saw this comment now. I wish I'd seen it before (4 months ago), then I could have agreed with you and you'd have seen it. Now, you might not still be around.

I guess if it's stealing, then it's stealing, especially if it's unwanted. I know couples do it but maybe not everyone appreciates it.
