Is it normal for a person to drive out of there way to save cents on gas?.

If you notice gas is a few cents cheaper at a further gas station is it normal to drive the extra mile to save a few cents?. Your really only saving approximately a buck fifty at most assuming you have a 15 gal tank.

I'll do a little calculating to figure if I'm wasting more gas to go slightly out of my way. A mile is nothing so I would probably go that extra mile to save 1.5 Generally I take note of all the gas prices on the way to my destination and stop at the cheapest on the way back.

I would think so. If some place is 2.15 and another is 1.89, then I wouldn't mind driving a little to get to that place.

When most people go a bit out of their way to save, you get a condition that economists call "elastic demand". This pressures all gas stations to keep prices low.

A mile, yes. Though I knew a guy who would drive 20 miles out of his way to save pennies on gas. That, I couldn't figure out.

I fill the car up at Costco... Costco is everything, Costco is life. No seriously though, Costco usually has the cheapest gas in my area.

I thought Costco was a grocery store.

It is, but they also have gas. At least my location does.

When I was driving, it was more a matter of principle than money. I wanted to support those stations that cared enough to try to keep prices down, rather than the big, rich oil companies that couldn't give two shits about anything but raping as many customers as they could.
If you knew the real cost of gas to the big oil stations, you'd be outraged.
