Is it normal for a teen girl to be lazy with showering?

I take high school classes online (like homeschool), and consequently don't sweat very much because I'm in the air conditioning most of the time. I'll take a shower. I'll feel fine for two days, and then my scalp starts to feel a bit itchy/oily. So I brush it out and put it in a ponytail. And with that, I can go up to a week from the day I showered last. I know it sounds gross, but when my hair's up and out of my face, I don't think about it as much. As soon as I take it down, I feel disgusting though.

Multiple times, I've tried taking a shower more often, but then I get busy and procrastinate. Also, I don't know how some girls do it, but it takes me an hour to get a full shower done. And that's not singing, dawdling, or anything.

The funny part is that I feel WONDERFUL after taking a shower, whether it's been a week or a day. And I love that feeling of being fresh and clean, but I dread actually doing all of it.

**In the end, I'm just asking if it's normal for the typical teenager. Of course, if I was active and sweating everyday, getting extra germs on me, etc, then I'd be more paranoid about showering. So I feel like I'm justified to an *extent*, but still need improvement of course. Sorry for this being so long!

Yes. During the summer if I'm not doing a whole lot, I can end up going a few days without a shower since I'm just laying around the house.

Especially if there's somebody I REALLY want to talk to on the phone or texting, I'll procrastinate more. And then I'll get out and start talking to that person again, and I end up procrastinating getting dressed. But on weekdays, I usually need to hustle to get to school, and I just don't have time to procrastinate. Overall, it seems pretty normal if you aren't doing a whole lot or have someone you like talking to that keeps you busy.

Daily cleaning of one's body is not only hygienically helpful, it's a kindness for those around you. In the teenage years there's a lot going on, hormone-wise and such, and not showering for a week, regardless of physical activity probably leaves you reeking like a rhinoceros that's been rolling around in it's own vomit and feces.

    • As a side note to this comment, I have a younger brother and a sister. One day I asked them if I smelled; my sister said I did a little bit, but my brother said I smelled like nothing at all. Both are brutally honest when I ask them to be.

These are, in all probability, little monsters that cavort about with unbrushed teeth which makes their mouth smell like a sewer. This alone could render them unable to distinguish other odors.

I shower every other day to save water. it also doesn't really affect my hygiene. I always shower after i exercise though, no matter what.

Interesting view. I would agree that at an older or younger age you might make a valid point, but the teen years are especially... pungent. I've smell teenage boys that had emerged from a shower only ten minutes hence that smelled as if they'd never encountered water. So as a teen, I would have to go with the "shower everyday, and perhaps more often if certain physical exertions have taken place."
