I like classic rock, heavy metal, and 80s hip hop. Many people are surprised that a white conservative guy with a southern accent hates country music.

I wonder if the down-votes are from conservatives who are shocked that I don't believe in the magical sky-daddy or from atheists who believe I should believe in Social Justice like them lol.
It's just a preference, of course it's normal. It's a good thing to not be a stereotype.
I like some old country but modern country is a vain attempt at pop music. All the songs are about beer and adultery.
I feel like country music is too male dominated. Almost every song is by a male singer and about love, again from a man's point of view. Most of the music and lyrics are generic, only a few are actually quality tunes that are catchy, stand the test of time, and make you think and reflect on life.

Yeah, my folks are pretty conservative, and they don't listen to Country music. My dad likes, Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath and Pink Floyd off the top of my head. My dad is 80 by the way. My mom still likes Madonna and Prince, but my dad prefers Lady Gaga over Madonna.
