Is it normal for a young woman to like yaoi manga?

Yaoi manga has always commanded a certain fascination from me. Particularly, those which feature families. As someone who writes fiction, I try to explore other works which feature things I am not familiar with, for example, foreign countries, lactose intolerant characters, LGBT characters, divorced characters, non-traditional family structures, etc. But, in the case of yaoi, it has crossed over from being just another genre I read to being a hobby in its own right.
I don't personally feel that it is wrong (religion simply isn't a factor here) and moral arguments are more or less off the table. I'd just like to know if it's considered normal for a woman to read yaoi i.e. is it common; is it as rare as it is in my country, in other countries; etc.
