Yes, it is normal. I consider myself a Christian atheist, and I see God as a symbol of perfection and completeness rather than an entity I believe actually exists. For me, Christ is a model of perfect human values, and I model my life on my interpretation of him. When people find the idea of an atheist praying weird, I like to mention how Buddhism and many other religions are not theistic, but also involve praying. Praying to God is quite common among Christian atheists, but many of us, including me, also pray without neccessarily having God in mind. Even if you don't identify with Christianity or don't have God in mind, I believe praying would still be entirely normal. Prayers can play a lot of different roles, and a faith in God is not neccessary for them to effectively play these roles.
Are you really athiest or could you be agnostic? I'm the latter and I pray, albeit not to a diety.
You're possibly a pantheist... All religion is obviously bollocks to any sane person, but the universe might just be sentient.
Well...if you pray to god you simply arent atheist...do you do it just for self support while tho you think its not real or really believe in god?
