Is it normal for an it student to hate new tech?
I just hate the google glass windows 8 laptops with touchscreens and so on. I fear for the day everyone has a google glass. While on the otherhand this might create more jobs for programmers.

I'm a mechanic and I hate newer cars. They're a pain in the ass to work on and have approximately 6 billion frivolous features.
I'm an IT student and I feel the same way too, bro. I cannot STAND Win8. In fact, you can forget Vista too. And XP. And 2000, and ME. I liked 98. I used 98 until 2005 or 2007 or something ridiculous... It was my best friend. Now I like 7.
And if I hear another word about CLOUD COMPUTING I am going to shit a fully assembled Adobe brick house....
Touchscreens are not new. Touchscreens are actually older than modern ethernet... Ethernet: 1973; Touchscreens: ~1971.
3D printing is the only new technology I have embraced, as I do own a 3D printer.
However, I'm liking the sounds of Win10. I need it sooner though, my imminent laptop hard disk failure is going to happen any day now...
I'm a massive technophile, I have to buy all the new shit that comes out.
