Is it normal to be pissed, at the cops, for shooting the family dog? When the cops are at the dog's place of residence?
I've seen, in the news, too many times, cops having shot friendly dogs, because the cops were scared of the (friendly) pooch!

Cops are sent to arrest a criminal. The dog simply got in the way. I am not saying its good to kill the animal but its procedure. If the animal is going to try to kill the cop they sometimes will shoot it.
If a guy raped 12 children and the dog trys to kill the cop for taking away a convicted rapist it can end up killing the cop. No the cop will not always hurt the animal but they have to defend themselves or the cop will end up dead.
Sometimes however I think they do jump the gun out of panic. I am for animal rights as well and I find this kind of thing very sad. There has been cops who have actually punched dogs and things like this to avoid killing them. I think they should probably teach cops better way of handling dog attacks.
Well if they shoot/shot your dog, then they should pay a fine! Just because they're cops does NOT mean that they can do anything they want. Cops are real citizens too, and feel free to sue them just like if they weren't a cop. If you go to court and you need evidence, bring that dead dog along if you really have to.
They DID NOT shot MY dog. I have just seen too many story about cops killing family dogs.
I have 3 "Killer" dogs, miniature Chihuahuas. They can really do a number on your shoe strings!
If they DID shoot one of my dogs, I'd be on "Death-Row", because my dogs are like my kids. You hurt one of my kids, I hurt you!
