Is it normal for me to hate pet birds?

I hate fuckin parrots. And conures. And cockatoos. Anything with a beak big enough to take my finger off. I love how intelligent they are. But they ALWAYS bite me. I was playing with my gfs moms green conure and it was bobbing it's head and talking to me and looked like he wanted me to pick him up, when I stuck my arm out it flattened it's feathers and scooted away. They told me to stick my hand out further, to which I responded, "it's gonna bite me. He doesn't want me touching him" they said ''nonsense, pick it up" then the little bastard latches onto my hand. Before it let of blood started running down my arm. I had to sit there for like 10 seconds while this thing tried to take my hand off. And stupidly, that was like the 5th time this has happened to me. Listening to some idiot that says their bird won't bite me...

My grandpa used to take my sister, cousin, and I to the park to feed the ducks (which I learnt was not allowed...). He said, "Don't hold your finger up to them. They'll bite it if they think it's food."

Aw, but they're just cute little-- Ah... Never mind.

I guess some people hate them. And, they do bite. Anyway, it's the owner's fault for having you touch the bird.

The last time I saw a pet bird... was... at my grandma's house. He flew away... :(

  • When I was a kid I had a worm farm. After my ants died I filled it with worms from the yard. They died too. :(

I had budgie bites those were small but painful bites so I get you. I had a pigeon though and their beaks are not sharp enough to cause any pain not that the little chub ever tried to bite me she was just lovely and soft and very chill but I was only keeping her until she could walk and fly again so I only got to have her for 6 months. The animal rescue place that we took her to when we first found her at the side of the road had no room for her and said she had just bad muscle damage so we could just keep her fed until she's good on her own. I wish pigeons were normal pets they are really nice to have and much more docile than tropical birds! she used to ride around on my dogs butt too that was amusing and he didn't even care.

As someone who hated Tweety cartoons and was rooting for Sylvester to finish off that smug, little piece of shit once and for all, I can say this is definitely normal.

When me and my sister were kids our parents tooks us with them to the house of someone our dad knew and in the backyard was a couple of cages and one had a parrot in it. Being curious I went up to the parrot and stuck my finger through the wire of it's cage hoping to pet it. I was standing there with my finger in front of the parrot thinking something like "What a pretty bird you are" and next thing CHOMP! the bloody parrot had my finger in it's beak and started chewing it. My dad said to leave the parrot alone so I yanked my finger out it's beak thinking "Vicious little shithead!".and walked away. The bird didn't break the skin but it felt like he was gonna chew my whole fingernail off.

Not a big fan of pet birds, I still think of Jurassic Park that they are just tinier dinosaurs!

Normal. I love birds myself, but you have to understand them. They sense emotions. If you think you'll get bitten, the birds will pick up on that, become afraid and bite you. I'd stay away from them and stick to simpler creatures, like dogs. :)
