Is it normal for poo particles to collect on the ceiling above the toilet

I don't leave shit sitting in there unflushed so I don't understand why the poo is building up on the ceiling directly above the bowl. How is it even getting up there?

PS - I tried to attach a picture but it wouldn't let me... It's basically a whole bunch of brown dust-sized particles formed in an oval shape.
