Is it normal for things to go badly every time i try to be active

almost all the time I try to be active things just go badly.
Ex. 1. try to be active in a conversation either I get ignored or everyone just don't know how to react( I'm sure I'm not saying anything weird).
2. When I let down my guard and I start talking informally, people just kinda just stayed away or didn't like it.

The reason i made this post is because recently, i opened up to a bunch of people i've been living with for the past month. turns out we're just "friends" with benefits.

These things happen uncomfortably often to me in my whole life, my heart already can't tell if someone is being genuine or not. I always feel skeptical of another person's words and reactions. If this keeps happening, it'll be hard for me to open up to anybody.

Learning to talk to people and hold their attention is a skill and takes time and practice.

A few short books (pamphlet size) that complement each other that should help you get better at conversations faster.

"Skill With People" by: Les Giblin

"The Art of Dealing With People" by Les Giblin

I wish you well with this...

        Your welcome.

Please be patient on this. It took me decades to learn to talk and relate to people reasonably well.

It's often an incremental step by step process, and I've seen others blow past my timeline and do in a few years what took me a few decades (personality, how I was raised, and other issues all complicated things).

I still read "How to Win Friends & Influence People" every year and am still improving. Note that I now read the updated version "How to win Friends & Influence People In The Digital Age" by: Dale Carnegie and Associates.

But start with the two Les Giblin books... as I've found that works best with the younger generation.

I wish you the best with this. Feel free to PM me sometime if you would like more suggestions or to discuss things more personal than you want to put on the forum.

Hmm... porridge ay? I'm personally rather partial to oatmeal with maple syrup.
