Since I was a little kid, I was fascinated by vacuum cleaners, especially since my mother got an old Kirby, which I have now. The first one I got was a 1920s GE handheld, and I have several different ones now, from old Hoover's to 1990s Eurekas, as well as 2 Kirby's, a Rainbow, a Regina industrial, and a Tri-Star canister, among others. Is it normal for a guy to collect vacuum cleaners?

    Personally, I love books - I go crazy at garage sales where there are lots of hardcover books in great condition going real cheap. My bookshelves overflow with books of all kinds - love them!

    My husband likes vacuum cleaners, too. I'm kind of mystified by that, but hey - it could be worse - much worse! LOL

    It's kinda in my family, I guess. My father has been buying and selling stuff at auctions and flea market since he was a boy, and he kinda got me into it. Everyone in my family has at least one type of item they collect, my dad collects old bottles, my brother vintage electrical stuff, my sister is a bibliophile (book lover), and my other sister, tobacco pipes and other stuff of that sort.

    that's actually really awesome, I've never heard of this before! it's really cool that you're taking these "consumable items" designed to be used and thrown away and taking care of them, even preserving them, in a way. you could even start a museum, if you got enough of them; we never really think about the history of these everyday items, so that'd be totally awesome to slow down and really let it all sink in like that. keep doing what you're doing and have a great time! :)

    I converted my vacuum cleaner into a hepa filtration system it's very nice but quite loud. :)
