New boyfriend seems like a great guy so far. My only worry is he loves super violent movies, war movies, gangster movies, serial killer flicks etc. I've never liked these at all. We watched Kill Bill and he said it's supposed to be amusing but I don't agree.
Do most men like violent stuff this much? My last one liked MMA which I think is appalling.
I love Quentin Tarantino movies! The man's a genius as far as I'm concerned.
More people like violent films than don't I would have thought, women too, men aren't the only people who watch action or horror films, violence is portrayed in a number of ways though, some films are fantasies, not just in the way of not being real but they're absurdist power fantasies not to be taken seriously, like crank.
Then you've got films like funny games, extremely dark, disturbing, violent and hard to watch but not to be enjoyed, many films use violence as a statement, as social commentary
But then you also have certain films that seem to revel in the sadistic side of violence for no reason other than excitement which have seen a growth since Eli Roth introduced it into the mainstream cinematic audience with hostel, personally I don't get the appeal but hey, it's entertainment, it's not real and quite often its the case that products with the most disturbing content such as funny games or the game spec ops the line uses it intelligently and to make a valid point.
It's very normal for people to enjoy violent things and it shouldn't be used to judge someone, in fact on one shelf I have things like martyrs, dead space, eraserhead and things like it's a wonderful life, up and forest Gump, totally normal
Kill bill is supposed to be amusing. It's a dark sense of humor. Quinten Tarantino is just like that. I'd worry more if he obsesses with movies like saw, and hostel, and the cube movies. Just pointlessly gory and I humane movies with no real purpose but to be shocking and bloody.
He's a serial killer RUN! Just kidding. Can't speak for men as I am a woman but I think it's pretty normal and I think your boyfriend is awesome, I myself love violent horror films and laugh at grotesque movie scenes with blood. Don't worry about it
