Is it normal how to tell my stepdaughter is stealing off me?

money and valuables are missing. My stepdaughter and I were getting along better for the past two days until this happened. I missplace my keys alot but I check to see if it's in it's hiding place several times a day. she is strapped for cash so she must have taken them.My wife said my stepdaughter was busy babysitting, cooking and cleaning all day and she is sick of me and her daughter arguing late at night about stupid shit.My stepdaughter screamed if she had took money off me she wouldn't be living here and can't she unwind and watch downtown abbey in peace?I wasn't home all day but a very reliable source told me they saw her stealing the stuff.

Put some mousetraps in a drawer and cover them with $10 bills.

    Really?
You can't count the money in your wallet and leave it lying around? Then count the money again sometime later. Are you so drunk or stoned you can't remember how much money you had in your wallet for a few hours? If so, then write it down somewhere.
You really need someone to tell you this, really?

  • When I have been stolen from it has been obvious. If something is missing from where I know it was, it was likely stolen. The only times it is confusing is when I do not know who did it because there were multiple people around.
If you are missing something for certain, it may be stolen. If your stepdaughter was the only one around, it was probably her. If you have lots of visiters maybe it was someone else.
Theft is usually easy to figure out. What i have done is pretend i have evidence against the suspect and they will often confess. Most thieves are not clever. If they were they would be scamming corperations for millions. Not stealing from people they know. Only a dumbass steals from people they know.

What exactly is missing? Your post is a little hard to understand.

Leave some money in a semi conspicuous place and see if it goes missing.

Put up some pinhole cameras and then leave out valuables, or fake things that look like valuables. See who is stealing them.

I've done this and they only asked for forgiveness AFTER I proved they did it. I said no, of course, because if they were really sorry they would have apologized BEFORE I caught them red-handed. Some people have zero morals. Even being blood-related doesn't shame them into not stealing.

Call the cops! If she stole the items she probably sold them to a pawn shop. Does she abuse drugs? Drug addicts steal to support their habit.

Who's the reliable source? I'm just curious.

Put hidden cameras in your house.

valuables - a bunch of keepsakes and things left by my parents and grandparents such as jewelry money and a mini grandfather clock plus about 400 hundred dollars was missing. The smaller items/cash were in a tiny little box with a combination lock in a blank space in the wall behind a huge cabinet.

Let her watch Downtown Abbey and see if she becomes distracted enough that nothing goes missing.
