Is it normal i absolutely despise ikea, due to being a woodworker?

I do a lot of furniture making, and always get pissed when I see people thinking IKEA actually makes quality furniture, and see them as a great company. I hate them since they're a main source of competition against me, and most people would rather buy awful furniture from IKEA, and say real furniture is "too expensive for what it is" even though IKEA furniture, made from cheap particle board sells for almost $200 a piece.

Normal but it is also normal for some people to not have the money to buy real furniture from people like you

    • Yeah, I understand that. Some prices from solid furniture is expensive. But I guess you get what you pay for. I just 'don't like the praise they get.

In my area, we don’t have an Ikea, but we have a JYSK, a very similar scandinavian store. There is no good woodworking places nearby that don’t charge a fortune.

But yes, it is normal. I know where you are coming from. I do stuff with computers a lot, and it bothers me when people buy overpriced trash when they can build a computer. It is easy and I recommend you at least try it.

I think I've only been to IKEA like twice. It's overpriced for the quality, or rather lack thereof.

As a student, all of my stuff was from ikea. It was crap, but it was cheap.

Now tho, I'm not a student any more, so I can buy better quality furniture. I mostly buy my furniture from local stores, not the ultra-hype mega companies. Cause prices there are always inflated. Only worth it if they have a "everything must go" sale.

I don't buy furniture from those big companies. I've stopped.

I spend my hard-earned money with people who really know how to use their hand.

When your work is trying to produce quality products or services then yes, it is annoying to see some company produce garbage.

If someone wants to buy garbage for low prices, they are going to get what they pay for. The kind of stuff that if water gets below the surface, it is ruined.

I cannot afford good furniture but if I could, I would go for that instead of the crap Ikea puts out.
