Is it normal i am not employable? what more do i need?

I have a guard card, 12 certificates, ROP business certificate, Certified in CPR, have a few months of customer service experience, 3 job references. What else can I add to my resume to make a company want to hire me? I guess I dont have enough but I dont know what more I need to add.

Are you applying for relevant jobs and are all of those certifications related to your job?

I applied for a job in the special ed department of a high school and got it almost immediately.
    Psychology Associate's Degree
Guard card with security experience - Experience and training to handle emergency situations or criminals because it is a school for criminals.
Military experience - See above. Adds that extra touch of "I'm a competent hard-worker with integrity" to the resume.
CPR/AED/First Aid because I AM working with children
Experience as a volunteer in the SpEd department of my school.

Tailor your resumes to fit the job. Research the company because knowing the company is a huge plus to employers. Practice your interview skills. Volunteer/Intern in your desired field (I was a volunteer in my field which bumped me up to working in my field which will bump me up higher when I am ready to apply for a higher position). Be OK with accepting shitty jobs. Continue your education. I was turned down for 4-5 jobs before I got this one. Patience is a virtue.

There must be something wrong in your approach, whether it's your cover letter, cv or phone manner.

How you speak to people on the phone when you call to make an appointment or when you follow up on your cover letter /CV.

People can tell a lot about a person by the way they speak, what they say.

            • I only say what I was taught to say by the job coach.

In my experience, it's not always about adding to the resume...how do you do with job interviews? Are you even getting interviews? Do you follow up?

A lot of businesses now have people submitting online resumes, which are entirely impersonal. It makes a huge difference if you call or go in after you submit, and speak to the manager in person; shake their hand; talk to them; make an impression as a person and not just another applicant on paper.. Fuck, even write a cover letter; show you're committed enough to put in the extra effort. These days, simple applications might not be enough...they just don't make you stand out on anything but your credentials.

    • I always call afterwards and I not getting any interviews. A lot of the ones I getting are like 4-5 towns over and state on the add that its in my city which makes it more difficult. I not getting any for here though. I also spent over a month going to the same guy every other day asking if they were interested and did not get much results.
