Is it normal i believe it is humanity's purpose to create an ai to replace us?

I believe evolution produced us and that in turn the next step is for us to develop an AI/android replacement. A meta-evolution if you will. A better human created in our own image.

Humans are not capable of evolving past our tribal bickering nature and a lot of that has to do with the evolutionary process that created us. The need to survive and fight for resources against other creatures. Yet evolution produced us by chance with the reason and ability to take the next step that a natural evolutionary process could never take.

Producing a unified being that would overcome our shortcomings and expand to the stars. It would give the universe some meaning. Obviously these AIs would follow their own "evolutionary" process through their construction of new AIs.

What is wrong with them turning on us? If progress requires our extinction then I think we should accept it.

We'd better hurry up and create these AIs before the zombie apocalypse. Sentient machines make better overlords than flesh-eating corpses.

I don't think it would give more meaning to the universe, and I don't think it is the purpose of humans to create such a thing.

  • What if advanced AI have already created this world by going into the past and planting life creating a paradox that will evolve back into themselves.

The thing with AI is that they have no self awareness/consciousness. There's a whole "Chinese Room Argument" about it. If you're interested it might do you good to look into it just to get some insights.

    • You cannot assume anyone has awareness other than my own perception.

    • I've read the Chinese room argument. It is a very poor argument against AI possibility as it is not falsifiable. It basically asks: how do we know if an AI program is actually intelligent or just a perfect representation of intelligence? Questions that cannot be proven or disproven have no explanatory power.

It's essentially the what if everything in life is just a dream argument.

Are you saying we are god and AI are the new humans?

this is not so far fetched according to Einstein. However, he said that we need to be careful making such a thing because it could end up with a superiority complex and taking us over.

You missed a step. With our understanding of genetics and our ability to manipulate DNA, it will only be a matter of time before parents can select which genes and traits will be dominate in their children. Then Homo Sapiens will be replaced by Homo Selectus. (Popular Science)

I have spent some thoughts on this as well, and its not a bad idea. They would be our offspring. And, just to crush the idea of them killing us: They would only crush us if they see us as a threat. We are inferioir to them, so, to them, we would be like animals or 'a former step in evolution'. But for the nearer future, I imagine an AI replacing all governmental systems.

I agree I would think that they would see us like we see monkeys.
