Is it normal i didn’t understand the book something wicked this way comes?

I finished reading it the other day and honestly I’m not sure what I read. The only thing I really understood was that there was an evil circus that could change your age but that was about it. Other than that it was just narrated so weirdly that I honestly didn’t get it much.
