Is it normal i don't thank people when they say "bless you" after i've sneezed.

When I sneeze in class, people will always bless me, but I'm too shy to even thank them. I just don't reply.

Most recently, after they said "bless you," they all turned to look at me like I said something really stupid... I could do nothing but look down. I really hate attention, but I feel like I'm being rude when I don't say thank you.

Nice to know that there are people with manners out there.

I don't want blessings. I think the whole thing is silly. Leave me out of your cult!

You're out, but don't be so surprised when everyone else in the 'cult' has good manners and sometimes expects them back ;)

The cult members needn't worry about my manners or lack thereof. I don't think it has anything to do with manners, really. I want nothing to do with anything 'god' related. If someone wants to be offended because a non religious person doesn't say god bless you then they are a foooool. Its just a sneeze, I'll be ok, so will you and so will they. My heart doesn't skip a beat. My soul doesn't fly out of my mouth or anything ridiculous like that. Keep your stinkin blessings.

        Rant complete, damn it.

I know this feeling exactly. When someone says "bless you" after I sneeze, I sort of pretend they don't exist. I'm too shy to say "thank you" so I just grunt.

Well I think when you sneeze people usually expect you to excuse yourself.

I think even if you mumble a thank you, the people will get what you're saying. That's what I used to do, anyways.

That's very kind of them; work on a response for the next time you sneeze. :)

It's rude. One of my pet peeves to be honest.

No need to say anything, but it is nice that so many think of you when you suffer! You could always work on a thank you later

I don't think it matters wether you say thank you or not, it's not like you asked them to say it or that it even changes anything.

When people say such archaic things, simply remind them that word means and is derived from the same root as 'blood', and is from an ancient blood-letting Pagan ceremony.

Why do they want to bloody you, after you sneeze?
