Is it normal i dont see the issue with quid pro quo?

i'm referring to offering promotions in certain positions in exchange for sexual favours. obviously the system can be abused, but a lot of systems where there are power imbalances can be abused too. if it were done in a legit way i don't see the issue. depending on the employer i know i wouldn't mind it being legitimate

i just dont see how its sexual harassment if its a formal offer, if the employee in question was being harassed in other ways alongside something like that sure

    A person who feel threatened with losing their job if they don’t comply with sexual demands isn’t in a position to say “no”. It gives the harrasser unfair power over the victim, such as in the cases of Harvey Weinstein and Bill Cosby.

    If you're formally offered to PAY to get a promotion, does it sound right? After all, the promotion isn't from the boss's coffers, but from that of the organization he works for. The boss keeps the favor they asked for after their subject is promoted.

    Just replace "pay" with have sex. And if they had sex once, it'll happen more. The subsequent times it'll feel less and less consensual.

    It would quickly become a necessity to achieve anything in career (which it really should not be) and it would also shift the preference of staff from people who are actually competent to people who are attractive looking and willing to perform sexual favors. Id rather have actual competent beyond everything I may pay for. And just because power can get abused, doesn't mean we need to give them even more easy/safe ways to abuse power

    It leads to incompetent people having higher roles in the company than they deserve because they just fucked their way to the top. I agree with it not really being sexual harassment if it’s consensual though

    It depends on who owns the buissness. If you've got some middle managment who's getting sucked off in order to promote people then as my life my way said it leads to incompetency.

    However, if you've got the guy who owns the company/ buissness then I agree, so long as it's all consensual.

        It's essentially prostitution enit. I mean, I can see why people disagree with that but personally I think, under concensual circumstances where the owner of the buissness makes the descision then it's fine.

          Naw, I can't see it that way, because in a business that is professionally run promotions ought to be based upon an employee's performance, and ability in said business, or field of work rather on who's giving out sexual favors.

          If the owner of the business wants to sow the seeds of corruption, and failure that's on him, but ideally a successful business ought to base promotions, and pay raises on the individual's merit, performance and leadership skills.
