Is it normal i fear i will go through menopause early?

So most people I know have gone through menopause in their 50s (mom, aunts, grandma, coworker).

But the other day my friend who is 33 said she's going through menopause (and I'm in my twenties, wanting a child in my thirties), so I'm like "no you're not" and she said "yeah, actually I am, it's confirmed by my doctors". She said her sister went through menopause at 29. My friend had kids at 17 and her sister had kids at 18 so I don't even know if that has something to do with it or what.

But I'm not even married yet and now I'm terrified of not being able to have kids because I'll get menopause soon!! My mom had me at 43 years old and my cousins in my family who have kids were in their late 30s when they had kids. And me still being in college, I thought I'd wait to have kids and get married first..now I'm scared..deathly scared. I really want kids! I was thinking I'd get married to my boyfriend in maybe 4 years and then have kids in my thirties..but now that my friend told me about menopause..I'm thinking I should have kids now while in college before it's too late..

IIN?

Premature menopause, sometimes called POF (premature ovarian failure), happens to 1-2% of women. A few percent more women have early menopause caused by certain illnesses or medical procedures. Genetics are a fairly good indicator of the likelihood of having POF. Ask your mom if it's happened in your family. If it's a real worry, you could opt to have some of your eggs frozen and stored in case you need them later.

Just because you know one person who did does not mean you will. That isn't normal. Look at your mom and other female relatives to see when you are likely to go through menopause, not some random person you know.

I had a hard time conceiving in my twenties and ended up haveing two kids in my thirties. We are all different, but now you know someone who was quite fertile at 33.

Not bloody likely before mid to upper 40's.
Typically starts at 49 or 50.
    Certainly by 52 - 54 years old.
It can last up to 7 years.
If a woman starts it and it stops suddenly , it can come back and then the time cycle starts all over again.
You dont pick up from where you left off.
For example , if a woman is going through menopause and after a year it stops , but starts up again 6 months or a year later , you start all over from day one , you dont just pick up where you left off at one year in to it.
You dont get credit for that year that you thought you started it , that doesnt count if you stop for a long period of time and you start all over again.
Try Premarin , that helps with the cold sweats , night sweats , hot flashes , mood swings , etc.

Everyone is different. If it scares you so much, get your eggs frozen as a precautionary.
