... with managers who are less experienced than I am when when they try to direct me in something and I know I could do a better job than them, because I've already done it before? I'm not asking 'is it okay', I'm asking 'is it normal'.
I can see the annoyance in someone less experienced trying to push you to do something you know more on but it’s going to be annoying in general. Just difficult in a job setting cause you gotta do your job and not piss off the manager to much cause they are over you. It’s tough shit I’ve been in that spot. On a side note I feel like it would be hard to jump into a new company new setting and as a manager having higher responsibility. Seems easier and better growing in it and gradually leveling up and gaining experience. Then again I don’t think I could manage well to begin with.

I've spared you the details of what sort of context this is, what we do, how we do it or how long either of us has been doing it for.
She's a manager of a small band I participate in. She's trying to make musical decisions but has little experience of music, or knowledge of how music works. What she does have is a strong sense of organisation and a take-charge attitude, which I really don't have at all. Also, we're about the same age.
I sing, and play two instruments to some degree, and I do classical, rock, musical theatre, easy listening, some pop, and I'm curious about world music. I've done extensive music theory, taken lots of music exams and been in musical ensembles since I was a kid. I've sung solos with live orchestras, participated in competitions, had the mayor of my town ask for my autograph, and had local kids recognise me in the street and ask me to sing them something. I've sung in more shows and concerts than I can count, I've been on tour in Europe with my orchestra, I've sung on the radio a few times, and appeared on television once with a choir I was singing in.
I don't wax lyrical about all this when she's around because it's not appropriate and I don't like to undermine, but it's infuriating how patronising it feels when she acts as if I know even less about music amd performance arts than she does. She doesn't play an instrument and can't even read music.
Well if you are so great, why are you not the manager? Can it be because you don't know everything and you are just jealous that someone younger than you was noticed and promoted over you? Suck it up buttercup you will find this happening for the rest of your life. That person will learn his trade and be way past you in a few years and then you won't have to deal with hinmanymorte.
