Is it normal i get migraine when using my laptop for more than 1 hour?

I have to use a laptop for my job at work and it causes me to have a migraine which can last for hours. Since I work 4 days a week (this job is part time) I kind of hate my life. I like my job so I don't want to leave, but having a migraine everyday from work isn't pleasant either.

Maybe the fonts on your screen are too small to read and it's a lot of stress on your eyes. You can increase the size of icons and text in your settings.
Or maybe your screen brightness is too low and that's making it hard.
Basically when you look at your laptop you should be able to just sit back and relax without a problem.

Do you mean an actual migraine? Pain in one side of head, vision disturbances, numbness and tingling? Or is it merely a severe headache?

Do you know how to position yourself and your laptop so as not to be straining your neck or shoulders, because many migraines and other headaches can come from this source.

Finally, have you had your eyes tested recently?

    • I do believe it is a migraine. My left side of the head typically receives the most pain. I get dizziness and nausea.

I'm shorter and my arms to tend to lay on the desk when I am I on the laptop.

Yeah, your mom said you'd go blind if you kept touching yourself

Some reasearch shows that migraines are related to epilepsy. So the comment about the flashing has merit. I have had these from flourescent lighting in school... especially when the light bulbs do the flicker dance.

It's the monitor's refresh rate combined with the hz of the lighting in your room. if they are out of sync it strains the eyes and can cause migranes in those prone to them.

After all, a monitor is a series of pulsing images that move fast enough that we don't see them.

  • I also get migraines while working on my laptop. Watching these screens is like staring into a lamp directly which stresses our eyes. These things are very unhealthy for our eyes.
