Is it normal i get very itchy when i'm around dogs

I personally like being around dogs. However, I've noticed that when I go to households with dogs I get really itchy after spending time with the dog. I also noticed that after spending a while at the home of someone with a dog I wasn't itchy after a couple of days. However after coming back and visiting other people with dogs I feel itchy all over again.

Is it normal to get itchy around dogs?

    Allergies! I've got allergies to dogs, sometimes my skin breaks into a rash. Sometimes I find that washing the area with water and soap and then patting it dry helps.
    It's the itch that will rash so don't rub or it will get worse!

      Not really. I don't see them scratching much.

        Good, then it's probably not fleas and you just have an allergy.

        You can take over-the-counter (non-prescription) medication for it, or stay away from dogs, or put up with it until you can have a shower to wash away the particles on your skin that cause you to itch (dog dander/saliva).

    It might be because of the dander on their fur or you could be allergic. My mom was allergic to cats but she took benadryl for a few months and now they don't bother her. Try that. :)
